Cut Down the Soft Drinks: Make Your Own

Tricia from Blogging Debt Away and her husband have started to cut down and then eliminate buying soda. Seeing as how those extra’s add up a lot to a grocery bill which already grows fast enough with today’s constant price increases, spending that amount of money on it simply didn’t seem to make sense anymore.

That will save us over $50/month and we’ll both be healthier for it.

When I look at our grocery spending as a whole, a lot of it is due to the “extras” like soft drinks and treats. With food prices going up across the board (and boy, have they been increasing lately!!), it’s time to cut those extras and go back to basics.

That’s not to say all recreational cool drinks are out of the question now. You can easily make your own flavored water, for example.

Better yet, make your own root beer. Add a bit of ice cream and you have yourself a frugal root beer float.
